Great Moments from the Sunday Book Review

“This is an extraordinarily irritating book, written by one of those people who smugly believe that, having lost their faith, they must ipso facto have found their reason.”

The opening line of a review by Christopher Hitchens, who is slowly working to compensate for saying things like ‘women can’t be funny’ and ‘the Iraq war is a good idea’ by eviscerating David Mamet’s warmed-over Glenn Beckisms in “The Secret Knowledge.”

Makes me not feel so bad for never getting around to watching “The Spanish Prisoner.”

  1. One must *never* feel guilty for ignoring any David Mamet film/play/book … with, of course, the exception of Glengarry Glen Ross. This goes doubly true if Lindsay Crouse is in the movie.
