Did You Hear? Me Myself and I

New music! Sometimes old music. Music that we love!

1989: Rapping over straight eighth notes was incredibly in style, and/or no one had realized how to do anything different yet. (Cue angry hate-mail from some ethnomusicologist much more knowledgeable than me, myself, and I.) Despite that fact, or quite possibly because of it, this is a great track with one of the most satisfying hooks I’ve ever heard. Every time that hook comes back around they clear out all the noise, give the track a little space to breathe, and then BAM! stick the landing. Every time. It was a great year for Hip-Hop.
